Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Guest Services Specialist to join our team at UF Health Shands Hospital. As a key member of our Child Life Services department, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and families in our pediatric and mother/baby inpatient units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and families
  • Function as a liaison between patients, families, visitors, and staff to ensure the highest level of patient satisfaction
  • Orient and support patients/families regarding hospital environment, amenities, and resources
  • Facilitate family/visitor access to pediatric units to maintain a safe environment
  • Provide leadership and facilitate community visits and events to benefit patients/families and promote satisfaction of community members/volunteers
  • Collaborate with Child Life staff and volunteers to maximize patient/family access to recreational activities
  • Enhance unit environment while meeting regulatory requirements and maintaining survey readiness
  • Proactively facilitate communication and problem resolution between unit staff, other departments, and the patient/family
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent; college degree preferred
  • One year of clerical/customer service experience required; acute care setting preferred
  • Demonstrated computer experience
  • Proficiency in reading and writing
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in public contact skills (respect for others, courteous, tactfulness)
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and display initiative
  • Dependability and ability to accept direction and interact with others as a team member essential
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work independently
