Job Summary

Smith+Nephew is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Manufacturing Engineering to lead our multi-site manufacturing engineering and maintenance team. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in our production processes and overseeing a project portfolio that delivers against strategic site objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers to oversee all production support activities, resolve problems, and implement new processes and products.
  • Coach engineers to support new product development and launch new products in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP/ISO/CE regulations through proper development of validation plans and maintenance of current protocols.
  • Manage budgets to achieve desired results and oversee development of training programs and maintenance protocols for processes and equipment.
  • Lead staff in career support, training, and performance feedback, and ensure proper application of established company policies.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a technical environment with specific machining or mechanical assembly and automation experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering or other professional management.
  • Understanding of business and the marketplace, with the ability to apply knowledge to advance our organization's goals.
  • Ability to make complex decisions, anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, and ensure accountability.
  • Collaborative relationship builder with experience in building partnerships and working with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Talent optimizer with experience in developing people to meet both their career goals and the organization's goals.
