The Project Engineer Intern will assist with the overall execution of projects in accordance with the established budget, schedule, contract plans and specifications. This includes ensuring the company's safety culture is documented, communicated, and enforced in accordance with the company's established policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will be working towards a BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software, Primavera P6 scheduling software, and Microsoft Project scheduling software is beneficial. Additionally, knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes and standards, and an understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform project specific engineering support, including preparing project submittals, maintaining project record documents, and performing technical review of contract plans and specifications.
  • Provide oversight and documentation related to project quality control in accordance with the contract plans, specifications, and company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare daily construction reports and progress tracking, manage, interpret, and perform site surveying, assist with the management of subcontractors, and assist with the procurement or rental of equipment and materials.
  • Assist Project Manager with project daily cost reporting and tracking, assist in the development of project cost estimates, proposals, and material take-offs, perform technical analysis of the remediation methodologies of various previously remediated projects, and perform other administrative or office duties as required or as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be self-motivated and interested in learning all aspects of environmental and geotechnical construction.
  • Knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes and standards, and an understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is important.
  • Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is also essential.
  • Sitting for extended period is common.
  • No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 25 pounds of force occasionally may be required.
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculator, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Good reasoning ability and decision-making is important.
  • Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business.

Travel Requirements:

  • Primarily an office position. Occasional site visits and field project visits may be required.
  • Travel to offices and projects in various locations around the country as needed.
