Healthcare Support Specialist

As a Healthcare Support Specialist with the State of Maryland, you will play a vital role in providing direct personal care to patients in the Home Health Agency. This full-time contractual position requires you to work closely with nursing staff to communicate patients' conditions and ability to participate in care. You will also be responsible for completing required documentation with the electronic medical record and working directly with family and caregivers involved in patient care.
Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with family and caregivers involved in patient care
• Assist with clerical duties, when time allows
Requirements
• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
• None
• Note: Applicants may substitute experience assisting in the health care of clients in a health setting on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education
Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications
• Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current certificate as a Nursing Assistant from the Maryland State Board of Nursing
• Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle
• Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete training and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete training and maintain current certification in basic first aid
Benefits
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.
