Position Overview
We are currently in search of a Fire Safety Research Specialist to contribute to Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) initiatives within Fire and Emergency Services (FES). This role involves collaboration with the Fire Integrated Research and Engineering (FIRE) team, focusing on U.S. Air Force firefighter needs, particularly concerning novel firefighting agents and extinguishment systems in diverse military environments.
Research Areas of Interest

- Innovative fire suppression technologies
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts RDT&E of moderate complexity by gathering and analyzing design and test data, preparing technical specifications, and evaluating technical data to establish appropriate limits and variables for product, process, or material specifications.
- Designs experimental procedures for assessing fire extinguishment systems, including instrumentation and data collection from field tests.
- Communicates findings through detailed technical reports.
- Performs standardized chemical analyses of firefighting agents.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, fire protection engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fire research and firefighting practices is essential.
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
