Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare for surgical procedures by collecting necessary supplies and instruments according to Surgeon Preference Card.
  • Assist the surgical team during the operative procedure, maintaining correct counts of instruments, needles, and sponges.
  • Clean and prepare rooms between procedures, returning unused supplies and instruments to proper storage.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques and actively monitor situations that could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program for surgical technologists or appropriate surgical technologist training in the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Certification with NBSTSA or NCCT certification accepted if ST was employed as a ST in S.C. prior to January 1, 2008 or completed a ST military training program.
