Job Overview

As a key member of our Regional Design team, you will collaborate with a large group of professionals on diverse projects across Texas. Your role will involve:

  • Creating intricate truss design and layout drawings: These drawings may incorporate beams and metal connectors that are provided by the company.
  • Developing design layouts: You will generate layout and design drawings based on architectural sketches or drawings submitted to the company.
  • Communicating with building professionals: Engaging in phone conversations with building designers to gather or clarify essential information.
  • Illustrating material specifications: Producing rough sketches or coordinating finished drawings to depict specified materials or assembly sequences.
  • Preparing repair drawings: Drafting truss repair drawings for review and approval by a licensed professional engineer.
  • Writing technical specifications: Documenting material qualities and properties in detail.
  • Training opportunities: You will receive training for Wood Truss Council Level 1-3 certifications, with the company covering exam costs (encouraged but not mandatory).
  • Mentorship for junior candidates: Extensive online and in-person training will be provided, partnering with experienced designers to learn software, truss mathematics, blueprint reading, and more.

For More Experienced Designers:

  • Reviewing and verifying designs: Assessing layout and design drawings prepared by junior technicians and assisting in necessary modifications before finalization.
  • Field modification analysis: Gathering information on products that have been altered or damaged in the field, summarizing findings for professional engineer evaluation.
  • Technical data analysis: Evaluating reports to ensure designs meet established specifications.
  • Building code knowledge: Applying understanding of building codes and addressing unique truss industry challenges.
  • Material processing specifications: Analyzing plans and diagrams or observing material processing to establish specifications for construction activities.

Compensation: Salaries range from $55,000 to $70,000, commensurate with experience.
