We are recruiting for a Senior Structural CAD Technician.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior CAD Technician for the Structural Department must possess knowledge and experience with the development of structural and architectural engineering drawings, practices, and standards. The Senior CAD Technician will create contract documents for a variety of new construction and rehabilitation projects including vehicular and pedestrian bridges, dams, water and wastewater storage tanks, pump stations, metering facilities, utility supports, parks and recreation structures, and industrial buildings. Responsible for delivering quality contract documents on schedule and within budget.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree or better in architecture or engineering design with 5-10 years' experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and MicroStation.
  • Familiarity with working in CAD drawings in State Plane Coordinate Systems and local datums.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Drafting of building systems, tanks, bridges, and culverts.
  • Development of contract drawings for both rehabilitation and new construction projects in multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with MDOT drafting standards.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D and Revit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs a variety of routine design assignments, with increasing responsibility, under the direction of a Project Engineer.
  • Develops project plans, sections, and details consistent with mark-ups and design direction.
  • Analyzes sketches, field notes, and reference drawings to determine and plan the best approach to prepare concise, well-organized drawings.
  • Works on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communicate with Structural team and team members from other disciplines to coordinate plan development and solve design conflicts.
  • Assembles and checks construction documents for quality.
  • Maintains strong working knowledge and values the importance of developing drawings to scale and according to company standards.
  • Values the importance of accurate detailing to mitigate delays and cost overages during construction.
  • Works cooperatively in a team environment, asking questions and seeking information when needed to complete assignments.
  • Demonstrates integrity with use of time, notifying project engineer when tasks have been completed and seeks additional work without prompting.
  • Willing to work occasional overtime to meet project deadlines or handle unexpected workload spikes. Employees receive time and 1/2 overtime pay.
  • Participates in continuing education and training to develop and apply innovative ideas and keep abreast of state of the art technology (e.g. evaluate and learn new software packages).
