Position Summary:
The role of the Budget Analyst is crucial in supporting the financial health of our organization. This position involves assisting in the formulation, preparation, and modification of the operating budget. The analyst will be responsible for creating various reports, analyzing expenditure trends, and preparing financial summaries for management review.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the budget preparation process, including planning and conducting meetings with department heads.
  • Perform monthly budget reviews to ensure adherence to the approved budget and analyze variances.
  • Review preliminary financial statements to identify missing expenses and prepare necessary accrual entries.
  • Generate invoices for expense-based contracts and manage revenue and accounts receivable records.
  • Identify potential financial issues and provide recommendations to management.
  • Prepare and analyze budget submissions and fund requests, suggesting improvements for efficiency.
  • Develop and submit monthly budget reports, collaborating with department leaders to refine objectives.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and recommend policy changes to enhance operations.
  • Inform management of state-level developments that may affect departmental budgets.
  • Participate in research projects and assist with financial information as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of the budget development process.
  • Familiarity with state contract and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data effectively.
  • Proficient in financial systems and accounting software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with spreadsheet applications for accounting purposes.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is required.
  • Preferred: At least 2 years of experience in fiscal analysis.
