Job Summary
As a Phlebotomy Technician at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in collecting specimens from patients and ensuring their safety and comfort. You will access samples into our computer system for accurate testing and billing, and obtain signed documents as needed. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will make you an asset to our team.Key Responsibilities
- Collect specimens from patients using correct technique, policy, and protocol.
- Verify patient and specimen identification, and properly label specimens with required information.
- Input and assess information via our hospital and laboratory computer systems accurately and timely.
- Follow safety procedures and respond correctly to safety violations and drills.
- Process specimens for testing, including identifying, sorting, aliquoting, centrifuging, and labeling.
- Restock supplies, maintain a clean and orderly work area, and monitor expiration dates of supplies and reagents.
- Communicate with patients and guests in a timely and courteous manner.
- Perform account registrations, order tests, and complete clerical duties as needed.
- Participate in Continuing Education (CE) program annually and complete required training for age-specific patients.
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma / highest degree earned
3 Month training in phlebotomy Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Previous phlebotomy experience or training in formal programs which include phlebotomy
Work Environment
Day shift at Hillcrest/Simpsonville Medical Campus
