Job Summary

The Operator - Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station. This role requires the ability to efficiently and safely operate equipment, monitor waste for unacceptable materials, and maintain equipment in operational condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials and take corrective action as needed.
  • Maintain equipment in operational condition, performing minor service and repairs as necessary.
  • Document equipment condition and report any necessary repairs to supervisor.
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
  • One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
  • Good customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment.
