JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Greater Allegheny is in search of an Academic Success Consultant. The role of the Academic Success Consultant is to assist students in designing a course of study that aligns with their aspirations and interests. The consultant will ensure that students are equipped to access and utilize University academic resources effectively, enabling them to make informed choices that support their academic and personal achievements, as well as their degree completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing guidance to exploratory students, introducing them to various academic disciplines and co-curricular opportunities.
- Tracking student progress using established metrics and serving as the subject matter expert on academic performance reporting.
- Creating a peer mentoring initiative that connects first-year and at-risk students with academic and personal support resources.
- Implementing academic recovery strategies for students facing academic challenges or those at risk of not achieving their educational objectives.
- Planning and executing special academic events, including advising days and commitment days.
This position requires a master’s degree or higher, along with one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will possess a background in academic advising with a demonstrated commitment to serving diverse student populations. Essential competencies include strong interpersonal and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, integrity, sensitivity to the needs of others, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, proficiency in computer applications, and effective time management skills.

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $42,000.00 to $61,000.00.
