Job Description

A wheelchair van driver provides safe and efficient non-emergency transportation for disabled, handicapped, or elderly persons to and from their destinations, including medical appointments, procedures, and healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Safely transport patients to and from medical appointments, procedures, and healthcare facilities.
  • Assist patients with entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
  • Properly secure wheelchairs for transportation.
  • Maintain a clean and well-equipped vehicle, adhering to all safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, healthcare professionals, and patients to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times and locations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and respect for patients and their families.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, prioritizing the safety of patients and other road users at all times.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing schedules and patient needs.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and promptly, including trip logs, mileage records, and incident reports.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Uphold the values and mission of Cataldo Ambulance Service, promoting a culture of excellence and compassion in all interactions.
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record through a DMV background check.
  • CPR Certified (we will provide training and certification if needed).
  • Commitment to providing exemplary customer service.
  • Previous experience in patient transportation, delivery driver, bus driver, customer service, or a related field preferred.
  • Pass a background check including CORI.
  • Pass a drug screen and lift test.
