Key Responsibilities
  • Apply professional engineering techniques and standards to develop and modify facilities, systems, processes, and equipment as needed.
  • Manage projects from conceptual design to implementation, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery.
  • Design, build, and test prototype and production machinery, as well as develop processes to evaluate performance, safety, and maintenance.
  • Conduct performance tests on production equipment and processes to monitor yield rates, ease of operation, and overall production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design processes for new product introductions and line extensions.
  • Originates ideas for process improvements, production equipment, and tools, and provides leadership in conducting reviews of process designs.
  • Design, redesign, and build prototypes of production equipment and tools to ensure production capabilities.
  • Communicate with equipment operators and maintenance technicians on debugging and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
  • Prepare cost analyses on proposed changes to manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Oversee and present planning, costing, and timeline information for new projects to involved groups.
Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of design systems and capabilities of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controls).
  • Four-year college degree in Engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of computer use and software such as Word and Excel.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering.
  • Solid knowledge of the principles of engineering to develop and modify components and systems.
  • Solid knowledge of the selection and determination of materials used in production equipment, tool design, and modification.
  • Solid knowledge of machinery design, process improvement methodology, industrial processes, and procedures.
  • Solid knowledge of the full product line being produced.
  • Solid knowledge of the principles of safe operation of each piece of production equipment.
  • Expert knowledge of machining to design and build equipment parts or machines using economical and durable goods.
  • Expert knowledge in communicating in both written and verbal form with other engineers, suppliers, and representatives of other departments.
  • Solid knowledge of project management from conceptual design phase to implementation.
  • Solid knowledge of taking a component from conceptual design phase to prototyping, to first article component evaluation and modification, to the development of work instructions and troubleshooting.
