Job Title: Head Nurse-Radiology

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Nurse-Radiology to join our team at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center. As a Head Nurse-Radiology, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of patient care during the hospital hours of operation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate patient care and monitor staff performance.
  • Serve as a resource person to staff members and as a preceptor for new nursing personnel.
  • Ensure documentation of patient care and health education.
  • Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients receiving conscious sedation analgesia (pre-intra, post-procedure).
  • Cardiopulmonary Emergency Management BCLS-ACLS.
  • Peripheral venous cannulation.
  • IV maintenance and site care.
  • Safe use of IV delivery Pump (TVAC).
  • Maintain current population-specific competencies to care for patients undergoing the following procedures and assess, monitor, and evaluate patients undergoing the following procedures: CAT scan with/without contrast media, Angiogram, Pyleogram, Barium Enema, Gall bladder series, Pelvis sonogram, Hysterosalpingogram.
  • Medication administration.
  • Provide education to patient, pre and post procedures.
  • Observe waiting time for patients scheduled for procedures.
  • Quality improvement monitoring, ensure that staff nurses collect data for QI and submit written reports monthly and verbal reports quarterly in QI meetings.
  • Check emergency equipment every shift.
  • Conduct risk assessment to reduce adverse events.
  • Ensures that safety management issues are appropriately addressed.
  • Explains, involves and instructs patient's family concerning the therapeutic regimen and environment of care.
  • Effectively utilizes the electronic as well as the paper medical record and ensure the nursing staff are proficient in the same process.
  • Performs any other duties delegated by the Nursing Supervisor.
Requirements:
  • A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
  • Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • One (1) year of experience as a registered nurse.
