Aircraft Mechanic I - UH-60 Mechanic Specialty

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic I - UH-60 Mechanic Specialty to join our team at Amentum. As an Aircraft Mechanic I, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, and engineering data
  • Perform 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections
  • Examine reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listen to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions
  • Inspect jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments
  • Test engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes
  • Remove engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassemble and inspect parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repair or replace defective engine parts and reassemble and install engine in aircraft
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
  • Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
  • Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily
Requirements
  • Three years aviation maintenance experience
  • Two years rotary wing aircraft experience
  • Two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS)
  • All experience must be within the six most recent years
  • A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility
Working Conditions

The work is performed in a Maintenance Hangar environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work is performed outside as well. May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.

The employee is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruised from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts in shop area.

The employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.
