This position is part of a team responsible for manufacturing Optics & Photonics products for our customers. The role involves operating high vacuum thin film deposition systems, recommending and implementing improvements to coating production processes, and providing guidance to less experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities- Operate high vacuum thin film deposition systems to produce coatings such as anti-reflection, beamsplitters, mirrors, and filters.
- Utilize technologies such as resistive, electron beam, ion assist, and sputtering to work on a variety of glass types and crystal materials.
- Setup, measurement, and analysis of optical coatings using metrology devices such as spectrophotometers, hand tools, and microscopes.
- Participate in process development projects with Engineering.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process issues.
- Train less experienced team members.
- Examine uncoated and coated parts for defects.
- Maintain proper records in our Manufacturing Database.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts.
- Minimum of 7 years hands-on experience with high vacuum coating deposition methods.
- AAS in an engineering discipline or High School Diploma with 7 or more years' experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and comply with high quality standards.
- Good work ethic.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing production priorities.
- Basic mathematic knowledge.
- Proficient in basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office.
