Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Process Engineer role is pivotal in delivering technical knowledge to guarantee that production meets all quality, cost, and efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities:
This role involves designing, developing, and executing ongoing process enhancements to achieve objectives set by the organization. Additionally, it provides technical support to plant operations teams to aid in process troubleshooting and the formulation of corrective action strategies.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline is required. Candidates should demonstrate the potential for advancement within 2 to 4 years. Experience alone does not solely determine eligibility for promotion.
Project Involvement:
Engages in engineering projects, gathers, organizes, and analyzes engineering data. Supports operational objectives in safety, compliance, quality, production, cost, and capital initiatives. Monitors daily production outcomes while considering both economic and technical factors for each project. Converts processes into flow sheet representations under supervision.
Engineering Contributions:
Assists in the preparation of engineering proposals, develops findings, draws conclusions, makes recommendations, and compiles reports. Contributes innovative ideas for engineering projects, focusing on safety, cost reduction, or new methodologies, regardless of project specifics.
Accountability:
Responsible for completing engineering tasks within agreed timelines, budgets, and constraints. Applies standard engineering principles, concepts, and techniques while demonstrating a working knowledge of related fields. Capable of performing material and energy balances for key unit operations within their designated process area.
Troubleshooting:
Handles a limited range of troubleshooting challenges, utilizing basic process knowledge to resolve issues and recommend corrective measures.
Collaboration:
Fosters effective working relationships with plant operating personnel and peers. Coordinates efforts with others, recognizes priority conflicts, and seeks guidance for resolution. Collaborates with other process engineers and production staff, maintaining communication with Maintenance, Accounting, Purchasing, Suppliers, and professional organizations.
Supervision:
Reports to an Area Manager or Technical Manager, with oversight from a Senior Engineer. Work plans are regularly reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
Physical Requirements:
Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening. The role involves regular communication, frequent standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands and fingers. Employees may need to reach, climb, balance, and work in various physical positions.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety policies, procedures, and site regulations. Participate fully in safety programs, reporting incidents or near misses and conducting audits.
Performance Metrics:
Success will be measured against site EHS, Quality, Production, Reliability, and Leadership objectives.
