Job Summary:

As a key member of the Caterpillar team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of manufacturing. This exciting opportunity is for a skilled professional to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide support and guidance on all aspects of production, including costs, quality, compliance to safety guidelines, and environmental requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and deploy engineering changes, ensuring the most efficient and economical manufacture of quality parts. Coordinate the introduction of new machines and equipment, and process changes to meet production demands. Ensure optimum utilization of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas such as storage, test equipment, and material handling. Establish standards and work with shop personnel to resolve problems related to process, tooling, equipment, and more. Develop and implement modern technology to improve customer satisfaction, and conduct research to ensure proper approvals. Coordinate cost reduction projects, and responsible for manpower and rough-cut capacity planning. Respond to customer issues and lead process improvements, and confront complex issues and problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis. Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning and replacing defective or worn parts. Participate in setting up new machines and testing according to manufacturer's specifications. Train others on all major tasks and considerations for the full manufacturing process. Participate in measuring and monitoring new processes and technologies. Perform safety inspections to assure compliance with OSHA requirements, and ensure that all employees and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and regulations. Consult on development and implementation of cross-functional standards, and participate in the development of organizational policies and practices. Develop and use control and monitoring mechanisms for adherence, and collaborate with other functions on establishing and documenting joint standards.

Requirements:

Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and logistics equipment used in manufacturing. Ability to execute, plan, manage, and monitor the entire manufacturing process. Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies, and processes. Strong understanding of welding fundamentals and theory, and experience with robotic welding programming. Familiarity with Microsoft O/S and related applications. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
