Job Summary

DJ&A is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead our field survey party in conducting boundary surveys, engineering surveys, and construction layout. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land surveying principles and practices, including cadastral/boundary determination, legal descriptions, and construction staking techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a field survey party in conducting various types of surveys, including boundary surveys, engineering surveys, and construction layout.
  • Responsible for the effective performance, training, and safety of all members of the field survey party.
  • Perform records research for boundary and ALTA surveys.
  • Perform data analysis and calculations under the supervision of a licensed land surveyor.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of land surveying principles and practices, including cadastral/boundary determination, legal descriptions, construction, ALTA, topographic surveying, and GIS.
  • Experience using survey instruments and software, including Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Trimble RTK and Static GNSS, Trimble Access Data Collectors, and Trimble Business Center.
  • Knowledge of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) and the BLM manual.
  • Familiarity with GLO field notes and plats.
  • Knowledge of current ALTA standards.
  • Ability to operate as a one-person team and manage field assistants as needed.
  • Knowledge of field surveying practices and techniques.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere and travel to various project sites.
