Join our Trauma / General, Ortho, and Plastic Surgery Inpatient Unit as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This role involves working three 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM on weekdays. We are pleased to offer a $7,500 Sign-On Incentive, which will be disbursed in three installments for eligible external candidates.
About the Unit
This 36-bed post-surgical unit specializes in orthopedic, general, and plastic surgical care. We are equipped with two negative pressure rooms for patients being evaluated for tuberculosis or those diagnosed with active tuberculosis or shingles. Additionally, we serve as the medicine overflow unit for patients with Cystic Fibrosis, providing a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and document nursing care assessments, interventions, and patient/family education for stable patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, in line with the patient's care plan.
- Notify the supervising Registered Nurse of any changes in patient condition or unexpected assessment results.
- Review the assigned patient care plan and relevant active orders in the medical record prior to providing care.
- Assist patients with daily living activities, nutrition, and hydration as per orders and care goals.
- Conduct and document focused nursing assessments, including vital signs, pain levels, skin and wound status, functional abilities, drain and ostomy evaluations, fluid balance, and nutritional assessments.
- Administer oral, topical, and inhaled medications, and may administer intravenous medications upon successful completion of NH Board of Nursing approved training and delegation by a Registered Nurse.
- Apply dressings and assistive devices as indicated by assessments or interdisciplinary team orders.
- Report relevant findings and suggestions to enhance patient care to the interdisciplinary team and supervising Registered Nurse.
- Adhere to policies and procedures related to maintaining a safe care environment and medication safety, including patient identification and documentation of care activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, required training, and competency activities as per organizational expectations.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of NH is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification is mandatory.
