The primary role of the Cath Lab Technologist is to support patient care within the cardiac catheterization lab (CCL) by delivering technical assistance to the cardiac catheterization team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct, safe, and competent patient care in the Interventional Cardiology department.
  • Assisting in various invasive cardiac or peripheral vascular diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Operating ancillary equipment under the supervision of the cardiologist/radiologist.

The Cath Lab Technologist will assist the cardiologist during procedures by:

  • Anticipating and preparing necessary catheters, wires, and medications as directed.

It is essential to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and accepted practice guidelines. The role also involves:

  • Delivering quality, cost-effective patient care in a professional manner.
  • Maintaining a patient-focused environment that emphasizes timely and compassionate care.
  • Promoting a safe work environment for both staff and patients, in line with national patient safety initiatives.
