Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at the Ector County Independent School District. The successful candidate will work with Deaf/Hard of hearing students in the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf to develop speech, language and listening skills to the highest degree possible, maximizing their abilities and residual hearing.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide a speech therapy program to meet individual needs of Deaf/Hard of hearing students enrolled in the RDSPD.
  • Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
  • Evaluate speech, speechreading, listening, language and signed language communication skills of RDSPD students in collaboration with diagnostician and teachers.
  • Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech and language disorders.
  • Assist in appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student needs and to correct existing speech or language impairment.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, interpreters and other school staff members to promote speech, language and listening skills by providing suggestions for incorporating those skills in the student's daily activities.
  • Maintain thorough ongoing records for each individual student receiving speech therapy services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of students, testing, diagnostic status and personal problems.

Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in speech pathology.
  • State License for speech/language pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency-SLP-Preferred, CFY acceptable.
  • Ability to communicate with Deaf/Hard of hearing students via-sign language.

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
