Job Summary: Nativemaps is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead our Indigenous Leadership Program as Vice President. This is a unique opportunity to work with Native American and First Nation leaders and their communities in the coastal Pacific bioregion.
About the RoleKey Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement long-range and annual plans to strengthen relationships with Native American and First Nation leaders and their communities.
- Manage the Nativemaps Award for Indigenous Leadership, including selecting finalists and awardees, and facilitating Nativemaps support to the growing network of awardees.
- Work with the President, Vice President for the Natural Capital Fund, Director of Development, and the board to raise funds to increase the award endowment.
- Participate in senior management team meetings and contribute to the development of innovative programs to improve social, economic, and environmental conditions in the bioregion.
- Strengthen interactions between the growing network of indigenous leadership and related Nativemaps programs and resources.
- Communicate effectively with leaders, public media, and communities on program initiatives, funding opportunities, and important issues facing indigenous communities.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience working in Native American communities.
- Strong relationships with Native American and First Nation leaders in the region and around the world.
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Results-oriented and hardworking, with a willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
- Management experience, including hiring, supervising, budgeting, fundraising, writing, and speaking.
