About the Role

  • As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10 and CPT codes and modifiers to ensure maximum reimbursement and minimize denials.
  • You will work closely with our clients to resolve coding-related issues and provide expert guidance on coding practices.
  • Staying up-to-date with regulatory and payer changes is crucial in this role, and you will be responsible for monitoring these changes and implementing them in our coding practices.
  • You will also be responsible for researching and resolving coding-related system edits, payer rejections, and insurance denials.
  • Identifying trends and implementing process improvements to enhance client policy and procedure will be a key part of your role.
  • Continuing education and staying current with the latest coding practices are essential in this position.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Nationally recognized coding credentials, such as CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT, are highly desirable.
  • 1-3+ years of coding experience, preferably in outpatient physician and/or multi-specialty coding, is required.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills are necessary to ensure accuracy and efficiency in coding practices.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the ability to maintain confidentiality is crucial.
