Project Land Surveyor

H2M architects + engineers is seeking a skilled Project Land Surveyor to join our team in Melville, NY. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing land surveying projects using standard surveying techniques in the field and office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive instructions on specific assignments, objectives, and complex features.
  • Perform a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with land surveying projects.
  • Operate surveying equipment, such as Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS RTK & Static Observations.
  • Accurately calculate and record field data.
  • Review job specifications and plans fieldwork methods and costs.
  • Apply standard scientific/engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Review and download field data.
  • Prepare field notes and draw sketches of existing site conditions.
  • Prepare detailed daily job reports and discuss projects with supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot complex instrumentation.
  • Draft and edit surveys using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of survey calculations, techniques, and procedures.
  • Good judgment and organizational skills.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Ability to stand, climb, and walk continuously during an 8-hour period.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in a varying climate.
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn survey-related software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

The salary range for this role is $28-$40/hour. The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography, and/or related certifications. Note: The salary or hourly rate indicated does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
