Job Title: Survey Crew Chief/Survey Party Chief

Randstad, in partnership with SAM.biz, is seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief/Survey Party Chief to join their team in Melville, NY. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Job Duties:
  • Oversee daily field operations of a land survey crew, ensuring efficient data acquisition and project completion.
  • Determine the most effective plan of action for data acquisition, covering primary control, construction layout, and as-built surveys as needed.
  • Document work performed and sketches, maintaining accurate records.
  • Communicate daily with Project Surveyor and technician regarding project schedule and work progress.
  • Interact professionally with client representatives and land owners, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings/specifications, understanding project specifications and tolerances.
  • Prepare daily reports, time sheets, and other required paperwork, maintaining a high level of organization.
  • Maintain land surveying vehicles and field equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of industry experience, with prior crew chief experience preferred.
  • Competent operating total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs.
  • Experience with Trimble equipment is preferred.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, with proficiency in software and hardware.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, write, and speak effectively.
  • Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk long distances and carry up to 80lbs, with a valid driver's license.
