About the Opportunity

The University of California, Irvine seeks a seasoned Director of Development to join the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing team. As a key member of the Health Advancement team, this individual will play a critical role in implementing the fundraising campaign and vision for the School. Reporting directly to the Senior Executive Director of Development, Health Advancement, and working under the strategic direction of the Dean, the Director of Development will ensure that all fundraising efforts align with the School's goals and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for securing philanthropic investments that support the School's mission, collaborating closely with the Senior Executive Director of Development, Health Advancement, and executing strategies to achieve fundraising objectives. This role requires a high degree of coordination with both the Dean and University Advancement to achieve financial goals and meet metrics. The Director of Development's effectiveness will be evaluated on their ability to achieve financial goals and meet metrics, and they will be expected to be a highly collaborative colleague with other development officers on the Health Advancement team and across the campus.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. They will possess advanced written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. The successful candidate will also have advanced organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution, and strong project management skills. Additionally, they will have the ability to prepare complex and detailed proposals and related materials, work independently with both school and institutional goals in mind, and handle multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

The University of California, Irvine prefers candidates with advanced working knowledge of all aspects of the location, including current issues of concern for both the campus and/or throughout higher education/healthcare generally. They will also have advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
