Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in an ambulatory setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient care and administrative tasks
  • Collect and document patient data, including physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions
  • Organize and prioritize daily work assignments to support patient needs and operational efficiency
  • Provide a safe environment and safe delivery of care
  • Perform administrative support functions, including maintaining supplies and equipment
  • Reinforce patient/family teaching plans based on identified health education needs
  • Assist patients with care as needed for optimal health
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • No experience required, but certification as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia or passage of a nationally recognized and accredited PCT Certification exam is preferred
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required
Physical Demands

The job requires frequent bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
