Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Safety Officer to join our team at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. As a Public Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our staff, public, and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to staff, public, and clients while maintaining order, decorum, and control over assigned areas.
  • Perform crowd management and control techniques, assist with police and fire rescue, and remain calm in emergency response situations.
  • Understand the organization and operation of the convention center and outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Assist in general duties of public safety, theft deterrence, and loss prevention.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the manager.
Requirements
  • Possess demonstrable experience with public facility security and safety programs.
  • Verifiable similar experience in a large, service-oriented environment.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office and internet use.
  • Read, speak, write, and comprehend the American English language.
  • Major course work in law enforcement, public/business administration, or a related field.
  • Possess or ability to obtain appropriate Florida Security License.
  • Possess or ability to obtain a current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certificate.
  • Two years of increasingly responsible experience in law enforcement or security services.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to reach, grasp, walk, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods.
  • Lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed, under varying climates in facility locale.
  • Ability to talk and hear; must be able to frequently communicate with internal and external clients.
