About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Supervisor to join our team at the Miami Beach Convention Center. As a Public Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team of security professionals to ensure the safety and security of our guests, employees, and partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct shift briefings with staff to provide essential information about upcoming events and discuss relevant activities.
  • Review department rover checklists and the command center log to address any issues or potential safety concerns.
  • Ensure that all assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time, and coordinate with relevant teams to confirm that event requirements are met.
  • Manage building access key cards and oversee the issuance, distribution, and tracking of all building access key cards.
  • Implement access control measures to maintain security and manage the flow of people entering and exiting the premises.
  • Provide customer service to the public, clients, contractors, and staff, and ensure that all interactions are handled professionally.
  • Ensure the safety of individuals and property on the premises, and implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents, theft, or any other threats.
  • Manage unruly individuals and handle situations with professionalism and composure.
  • Complete incident reports and gather relevant information regarding incidents.
  • Understand and be knowledgeable about fire safety systems, and be proficient in identifying and interpreting information on the fire alarm panel and fire station computer.
  • Report issues to Public Safety Management and communicate any concerns to the Manager and Director of Public Safety & Transportation.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions, and obtain necessary certifications to ensure that knowledge and skills remain current and relevant to industry standards.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.; some college preferred.
  • At least three years in the security field required.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in the security field required.
  • Security experience in a public assembly facility highly desirable.
  • Proficient in all phases of Security Control Systems and security-related investigations.
  • Knowledgeable of the duties and responsibilities of security operations.
  • Pass background check and ability to qualify under existing State security licensing guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including morning, night, and overnight shifts, overtime hours (as needed), weekends, and holidays.
  • Exemplifies a professional demeanor, polished appearance, and a strong work ethic.
