Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Officer to join our team at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Security Manager in maintaining order, decorum, and control over assigned areas
  • Provide assistance for all activities involved in facility and event security
  • Perform crowd management and control techniques, assist with police and fire rescue, and remain calm in emergency response situations
  • Understand the organization and operation of the convention center and outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities
  • Maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Assist in general duties of public safety, theft deterrence, and loss prevention
  • Perform building, parking lot, and safety inspections as assigned by the manager
  • Monitor fire safety equipment, surveillance equipment, and card access equipment
  • Ability to work security check-points and other posts, plus traffic assistance
Requirements
  • Possess demonstrable experience with the characteristics, services, and activities of public facility security and safety programs
  • Verifiable similar experience in a large, service-oriented environment
  • Working knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office and internet use
  • Read, speak, write, and comprehend the American English language
  • Major course work in law enforcement, public/business administration, or a related field
  • Possess, or ability to obtain, appropriate Florida Security License
  • Possess, or ability to obtain, a current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certificate
  • Two years of increasingly responsible experience in law enforcement or security services
  • Relevant experience working in a first-class convention center is preferred
