As an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), you will deliver critical Advanced Life Support services, ensuring the medical assessment, treatment, and stabilization of patients who are critically ill or injured. You will respond to emergency situations where there is a potential risk to life or severe bodily harm, maintaining control and directing patient care at the scene of pre-hospital emergencies. Additionally, you will provide training and guidance to less experienced personnel and perform various other responsibilities as needed.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver and oversee prompt, effective Advanced Life Support to patients, utilizing a comprehensive range of medical skills and techniques, including the administration of medications, airway management, and defibrillation;
  • Identify and assess medical emergencies, making informed differential diagnoses;
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations to evaluate patient conditions;
  • Anticipate and implement appropriate pharmacological interventions for critically ill patients;
  • Recognize potentially life-threatening situations and provide necessary emergency treatments to preserve life;
  • Address both the medical and emotional needs of patients experiencing acute health crises, aiming to minimize mortality and morbidity;
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of first responders at emergency scenes, including EMTs and law enforcement;
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care as defined by organizational standards;
  • Complete standardized documentation of patient information and care provided for hospital and administrative use;
  • Maintain effective communication with hospital physicians to relay patient status and receive treatment orders;
  • Adhere to established protocols in the absence of direct physician contact;
  • Safely transport patients to medical facilities;
  • Operate emergency vehicles responsibly under various conditions;
  • Maintain and clean medical equipment and vehicles;
  • Accurately document patient statistics and medical information for administrative purposes;
  • Execute technical rescues in diverse environments;
  • Follow company policies and procedures diligently.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles;
  • Maintain cleanliness of living quarters;
  • Keep records of vehicle usage, supplies, training, and daily operations;
  • Undertake other related tasks as assigned.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The supervisor will assign shifts and outline the general scope of work. The AEMT will perform duties in accordance with established procedures, policies, and medical directives. The role requires sound judgment in applying guidelines to various situations, with performance evaluated based on feedback from patients and medical personnel.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess and maintain:

  • CPR certification for healthcare providers;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local street systems, addresses, and the layout of the area, as well as familiarity with rescue and emergency medical equipment.

Essential Skills:

  • Execute technical medical procedures with precision;
  • Understand and effectively respond to the emotional and medical needs of patients;
  • Maintain professionalism and objectivity in patient care;
  • Learn and adapt to new medical techniques and pre-hospital care practices;
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks related to medical equipment;
  • Lead and instruct other personnel;
  • Follow both oral and written instructions accurately;
  • Uphold a professional demeanor while representing the organization;
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, assisting agencies, hospital staff, and the public;
  • Operate emergency ambulance units competently;
  • Document reports with both narrative and numerical data.
  • Additionally, candidates must maintain a high level of knowledge in emergency medicine and participate in ongoing education to meet certification requirements.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


The role necessitates the operation of emergency medical vehicles, the movement of medical equipment, and the extraction of injured individuals from various situations. Incidents may involve vehicular, industrial, or residential emergencies and can occur throughout the coverage area. The position may require traversing diverse terrains, including steep or slippery surfaces.

To conduct physical assessments, the AEMT must be able to see, hear, and communicate effectively with patients.

Uniforms will be provided and must be maintained by the employee. A company-issued pager or radio must be carried at all times for immediate assignment notifications.
