Job Title: Medical Technician

Sanctuary Treatment Center is a leading provider of substance use treatment services in the San Fernando Valley, California. We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technician to join our team.

Job Summary

The Medical Technician will be responsible for providing mental health care services to clients, including observation of medication self-administration and ongoing consultation under the supervision of a Licensed Vocational Nurse. The successful candidate will assist the licensed nurse in maintaining facility medication records, client medical records, preparing medications for self-administration, and client medication inventory.

Responsibilities
  • Observe and record medication procedures
  • Assist clients in maintaining prescribed medication
  • Provide information to staff during shift transition
  • Identify, prioritize, and resolve problems accurately and efficiently
  • Assist the LVN in maintaining facility and client-specific medication records and inventory
  • Document client medical records
  • Investigate, document, and report medication errors and adverse drug reactions
Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age
  • High School graduate or possess a GED
  • Coursework in counseling, psychology, or social work, or in school working towards a healthcare degree
  • Experience working with substance use/mental health preferred
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Medication Technician certification or nursing coursework preferred
  • One year experience as a Medication Technician or Resident Aid engaging in medication observation preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and personal automobile insurance

Sanctuary Treatment Center offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance. Regular employees working at least 30 hours per week are eligible for these benefits. We also offer reimbursement for licensing fees, education assistance, employee referral bonus, and a 401(k) retirement plan with 4% dollar for dollar match to employees who work a minimum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year.
