As part of a newly formed team of skilled engineers, you will focus on integrating safety into Electric Vehicle Battery Systems across various divisions. This position emphasizes a global perspective and necessitates collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional, and multicultural team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the quality of battery systems through Systems Engineering methodologies, translating high-level quality concepts into specific attributes for individual components.
- Evaluate the impact of component variability to guarantee robust system design across all use cases.
- Develop and maintain safety-related documentation, including Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs), and verification and validation test results.
- Act as a subject matter expert in battery and electrical safety, offering guidance on best practices for safe design, handling, usage, maintenance, and recycling of battery systems.
- Investigate current and upcoming regulatory and safety standards to ensure compliance for PACCAR's battery systems worldwide.
- Contribute to the establishment and revision of corporate standards related to battery and high voltage safety.
- Collaborate across multiple divisions to reach consensus on practical best practices applicable to heavy-duty vehicles and manufacturing processes.
- Provide Safety Systems Engineering support in a matrixed, cross-functional environment, managing multiple concurrent projects focused on diverse applications.
- Enhance return on investment by creating scalable, adaptable concepts suitable for various vehicle types and market segments.
- Facilitate seamless integration of systems within the supply chain by delivering timely and precise information to engineering, logistics, manufacturing, sales, and service teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in applying safety concepts to high-power electrical systems.
- 3-5 years of experience in the automotive sector.
- 1-3 years of experience implementing Systems Engineering principles.
- 1-3 years of experience in designing large battery systems.
Essential Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Product Development (Design for Six Sigma is highly preferred).
- Expertise in Electrical Systems and Electrical Safety.
- Understanding of Functional Safety and Embedded Systems.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
