As a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Scientist, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic information to healthcare providers, empowering patients to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform patient and Quality Control (QC) testing, developing skills and maintaining abilities in all assigned laboratory areas.
  • Maintain proper inventories and correctly use supplies and reagents.
  • Perform advanced equipment troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure necessary procedures are followed before utilizing equipment after service, and workstations are restocked with supplies to maintain a consistent workflow.
  • Communicate specimen status to the appropriate person(s).
  • Participate in quality, safety, and compliance programs.
  • Perform phlebotomy: capillary punctures, and venipunctures as appropriate for patients of all ages requiring the procedure.
  • Follow established safety practices, including biohazards, exposure control plan (blood-borne pathogens), infection control to include universal precautions, employee right to know (hazardous chemicals), and chemical hygiene standard.
  • Promote effective working relationships as part of a team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Attend all in-service and continuing education as required by health and wellness center, policy, and licensure requirements.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of Personal Health Information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • May be able to perform direct observations and do competency on other employees.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (for Laboratory Scientist) or Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (for Laboratory Technician).
  • Experience: One to Two (1-2) years in a clinical laboratory environment preferred.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current board certification (ASCP or another recognized certifying board) and Current CPR (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, strong organizational and decision-making skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, and LIS experience.
