We are seeking a highly skilled Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Lee's Summit, MO. As a Building Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring that construction projects meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with adopted codes, ordinances, and approved plans.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of building codes, ordinances, and standards to construction projects.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the development community, city staff, and the public.
- Analyze problems and identify workable solutions to ensure project compliance.
- Read and interpret building plans and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a construction-related field required.
- Valid State motor vehicle operator's license and acceptable driving record required.
- ICC Building Inspector Certification (B1, B2) required within 12 months of employment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, and standards regulating building construction.
- Ability to effectively apply knowledge of codes and ordinances to construction projects.
- Demonstrated abilities in written and oral communications.
- Ability to communicate, interact, and function effectively under stressful and/or confrontational situations.
