We are seeking a highly skilled Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Lee's Summit, MO. As a Building Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring that construction projects meet the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with adopted codes, ordinances, and approved plans.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of building codes, ordinances, and standards to construction projects.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the development community, city staff, and the public.
  • Analyze problems and identify workable solutions to ensure project compliance.
  • Read and interpret building plans and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a construction-related field required.
  • Valid State motor vehicle operator's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • ICC Building Inspector Certification (B1, B2) required within 12 months of employment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, and standards regulating building construction.
  • Ability to effectively apply knowledge of codes and ordinances to construction projects.
  • Demonstrated abilities in written and oral communications.
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and function effectively under stressful and/or confrontational situations.
