About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide direction and supervision to assigned maintenance personnel to achieve superior results in maintenance productivity.
  • Scheduling and Resource Management: Schedule mechanics assignments and production control functions to provide reliable airworthy aircraft in conjunction with a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Facility and Equipment Maintenance: Responsible for facility and equipment maintenance in the respective station and/or shift.
  • Budget Planning and Management: Assist the Maintenance Base Manager in planning and maintaining assigned budgets for the maintenance facility and operations.
  • Training and Development: Ensure all team members are properly trained in the use of all equipment and procedures, to maintain proficiency, currency, and operational demands.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Coach and mentor direct reports to further advance their effectiveness and career development.
  • Operational Support: Provide assistance and direction to Crew Chiefs on operational and personnel issues.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Ensure that assigned maintenance facilities are operated in compliance with FAA, OSHA, TSA, and EPA regulations and Company policies and procedures.
  • Tooling and Equipment Management: Ensure availability and serviceability of required tooling and equipment at assigned maintenance facilities.
  • Administrative Tasks: Administer the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, prepare various maintenance reports and summaries, and prepare monthly budget variance reports as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Associate degree in aviation maintenance or engineering or equivalent, FAA Airframe and Powerplant license, and two to four years supervisory experience in a union environment in FAR Part 121 Air Carrier operations.
  • Skills and Competencies: Judgment and initiative in setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining program requirements; high level of judgment to evaluate outcomes of audits and to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations, policies, and procedures; high degree of professionalism and ability to keep sensitive information confidential; ability to communicate fluently in English.
