Position Overview
The Claims Management Specialist and Safety Coordinator undertakes a range of claims-related responsibilities within the Corporate Administration and Safety departments. This role is crucial for coordinating, tracking, and monitoring all insurance claims and losses, collaborating with the legal team to resolve these claims in alignment with the Company’s insurance framework. Effective coordination among the claims process, safety initiatives, and the accounting department's payment processes is vital for operational success and forms the core responsibilities of this position. Occasional travel may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Adhering to the Company’s Safety Program and Policies while executing duties safely.
  • Identifying various claim types, including the coding and registration of new claims.
  • Collaborating with the Risk Management and legal teams to communicate with insurers regarding claims specifics, reserves, and other necessary details to facilitate claim resolution.
  • Contacting relevant parties to verify claim details as needed and working with the legal team to coordinate the development of claims files.
  • Initiating and managing the claims process, following up on status, and collaborating with Risk Management and legal teams to drive claims toward final resolution and dispute resolution.
  • Maintaining and managing claim files in third-party tracking software for opening and closing claims.
  • Assisting the legal department with the adjustment, assessment, and resolution of claims; providing administrative support as required.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders, communicating actions, and working with the safety department to refine internal processes aimed at incident prevention.
  • Partnering with the Risk Management team to evaluate training needs and assisting the safety department in developing training materials to enhance company prevention strategies.
  • Preparing presentations and summaries for stakeholders to communicate prevention strategies and policies effectively.
  • Managing the Safety page and acting as a liaison with the Nebraska Safety Council.
  • Coordinating with the safety department to update and manage the Inspection App, NEBCO Safety claims data, and developing a standardized safety topic planner for consistent safety meetings across NEBCO.
  • Researching and structuring presentations for the safety department.
  • Assisting with Accident/Incident investigations as needed and collaborating with on-site personnel to develop investigation files.
  • Working with the safety department to keep safety manuals and documentation current.
  • Coordinating with the accounting department to ensure timely claim payments.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field; and
  • 3 years of experience in a similar role; or
  • an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and computer applications.
  • Technological proficiency sufficient to organize claim files and associated documentation.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple processes and communicate effectively across departments.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently, adapting to emergent situations as necessary.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
