SUMMARY


This role is crucial in ensuring that operational insights are integrated into the design process, and that the functionality of designs is effectively coordinated with operational planning, training, and execution for the AxStation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with the program team to formulate the operational concept for the AxStation vehicle, including its systems and subsystems.

Facilitate and ensure user feedback is incorporated into the system designs.

Align operational products with the vehicle design timeline, ensuring timely coordination and completion of necessary inputs and outputs to support the AxStation's operational readiness, which includes, but is not limited to:

- Operational concepts for minimal crew and ground interaction

- Hardware performance parameters – standard, off-standard, limits, etc.

- Risks associated with hardware and operational controls

- Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) as they pertain to operations and controls

- In-flight hardware maintenance

- Management of limited life items and consumables

- Human factors and crew interaction for operational efficiency

- Human health, performance, and medical operations

- Training for hardware and systems

- Payload management and operations

- Mission integration

- Cargo management and storage

- Additional responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution in engineering or a related field

- Over 10 years of experience in roles related to experimental science and cargo support, ideally within the ISS framework

- Experience in customer-facing roles

- Familiarity with various stages of the product lifecycle (from concept development to operational use) is preferred.

Work Environment:
Typically an office setting, but may involve both indoor and outdoor tasks depending on project requirements.


Requirements:

Must be able to undergo a U.S. government background investigation.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is mandatory for this role.

Physical

Requirements:

Work may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing (90% of the time). May involve lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Approximately 25% travel annually for job-related tasks.

Skills:
- Ability to comprehend the effects of the outer space environment on spacecraft, research, and manufacturing systems located inside and outside pressurized modules.

- Highly organized and detail-oriented; capable of managing, prioritizing, and tracking multiple tasks and projects.


- Ability to multitask, work independently with minimal supervision, and articulate the rationale behind key decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
