The Construction Project Superintendent plays a crucial role in orchestrating, organizing, and managing all resources on-site to ensure the successful delivery of construction projects.

This position involves overseeing a dedicated team of skilled professionals, both union and nonunion, who contribute to the achievement of departmental and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop and maintain construction schedules, conduct regular updates, manage jobsite logistics, and nurture relationships with adjacent occupants.
  • Champion the Level 10's Injury-Free Environment (IFE) Safety Program.
  • Oversee subcontractor work scopes, scheduling, and resource allocation in collaboration with other Self-Performed Work teams.
  • Encourage the professional growth of foremen to prepare them for future superintendent roles.
  • Act as the primary liaison with Owners and Design Teams.
  • Manage multiple large-scale and complex projects simultaneously.
  • Coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, subcontractors, and craftsmen.
  • Collaborate with project managers during the construction phase to budget, manage, and forecast craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and general conditions.
  • Develop site utilization strategies and determine appropriate crew sizes.
  • Ensure plans and specifications are aligned with design engineers, addressing any discrepancies.
  • Maintain communication with other departments to guarantee that all necessary materials, equipment, and inspections are in place to support the project timeline.
  • Engage in pre-construction budgeting, scheduling, and design discussions.
  • Select appropriate formwork systems and equipment.
  • Implement and adhere to project administration requirements in collaboration with the project manager.
  • Analyze and resolve work-related challenges, demonstrating the ability to identify alternative work methods.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a commercial Construction Superintendent.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management software (such as Prolog), and Scheduling software (like Primavera).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to identify and address complex issues.
  • Effective contributor in a team-oriented environment.
  • A Bachelor's degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe working environment for all personnel.

Working Conditions:

  • This role requires physical capabilities such as repetitive hand/finger motions, arm extensions, and mobility across various job sites with uneven and changing conditions, including climbing stairs and ladders.
  • The individual must occasionally navigate the office environment and consistently operate a computer and other office equipment.
