Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist - Nuvance Health
Overview:
The Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist plays a crucial role in the cardiac catheterization lab, utilizing advanced technology to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions. This position requires a commitment to patient safety and comfort while delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with medical professionals by maintaining sterile techniques during all invasive cardiovascular procedures, including angioplasty. Prepare necessary surgical instruments and materials.
2. Monitor and assess patients' hemodynamic status and ECG readings, accurately documenting vital information and generating comprehensive reports post-procedure.
3. Conduct thorough pre-procedure interviews to gather medical histories, review laboratory results, and educate patients and their families about the procedures, ensuring informed consent is obtained.
4. Ensure the cath lab is fully prepared for invasive testing by calibrating and performing quality assurance checks on all equipment.
5. Prepare and position patients appropriately, connecting monitoring devices and documenting all relevant information in the patient's medical records.
6. Assist cardiologists with arterial closure devices, demonstrating proficiency in sheath removal and achieving hemostasis.
7. Serve as a resource for colleagues regarding the operation and troubleshooting of complex medical equipment and instruments.
8. Collect and maintain data for relevant cardiac registries and databases.
9. Participate in various duties, including inventory management, quality improvement initiatives, patient transport, and evaluating new products and equipment.
10. Be available for on-call duties as scheduled, responding to emergency procedures and post-surgical interventions.
11. Uphold the organization's standards for quality, teamwork, and community service.
12. Adhere to all compliance requirements associated with the role.
13. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in interpreting EKGs and hemodynamic pressure readings.
- Minimum of one year of experience in endovascular, interventional, and diagnostic procedures.
Certifications:
- Required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Preferred: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification.
