Position Overview

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will deliver essential nursing care and educational support to optimize patient comfort and well-being. This role encompasses both day and night shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid LPN licensure in Florida or a temporary permit with current licensure from another state.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare professionals.
  • At least one year of nursing experience in an inpatient, hospice, or home health environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile insurance as per company policy.
  • Reliable transportation to fulfill visit schedules.
  • Completion of a 30-hour Infusion Therapy Course and an 8-hour in-house Infusion Class is preferred.
  • Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal.
  • Flexible availability to accommodate patient needs.
  • Ability to operate equipment with visual and auditory functions.
  • Capacity to manage the emotional challenges of caring for terminally ill patients and their families.
  • Ability to perform essential physical tasks of the job, including lifting and maneuvering patients and equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing tasks to patients and families under RN direction, including Continuous Care, dressing changes, and catheter management as outlined in the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) care plan.
  • Demonstrate clinical skills in accordance with company policies regarding medication administration, symptom management, and patient/family interactions.
  • Monitor patients for changes in health status, pain, and symptoms, reporting findings to the RN.
  • Recognize and report adverse reactions and treatment responses to the RN.
  • Communicate findings to physicians and advanced practice providers in collaboration with the RN.
  • Perform venipuncture for blood specimen collection.
  • Conduct Central Venous Line (CVL) site observations, dressing changes, and IV medication administration as per established procedures.
  • Document care and observations in the medical record as per policy.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

To perform the essential functions of this role, the following abilities are necessary: vision, hearing, verbal communication, ambulation, and manual dexterity.

Frequent requirements include standing, sitting, reaching, bending, and balancing.

Occasional requirements may involve lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, kneeling, and climbing stairs.

This position requires consent to drug and/or alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment, as well as ongoing compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
