Job Summary
California Correctional Health Care Services is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical support to patients with mental or physical disabilities, and to medically ill or infirm patients. The successful candidate will work under the clinical supervision of a licensed physician and surgeon, psychiatrist, or podiatrist, and will be responsible for providing basic medical support, as well as administrative and clerical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide basic medical support to patients with mental or physical disabilities, and to medically ill or infirm patients
- Work under the clinical supervision of a licensed physician and surgeon, psychiatrist, or podiatrist
- Perform basic administrative and clerical support
- Assist with patient care and treatment
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
Requirements
- Valid certificate from an agency approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California to practice as a Medical Assistant
- Active certification status prior to appointment into the classification
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Working Conditions
Travel may be required.
