M.C. Dean's Maritime Division is a leading provider of C4ISR system installations on ships and submarines. We are seeking a highly skilled Ship/Submarine Engineering Technician 3 to join our Alteration Installation Teams.
Requirements- Minimum Education: Completion of a formal two-year or more contractor apprenticeship program in a related field, or completion of four years of service in the US Navy as an Electronic Technician, Interior Communications (IC), Information System Technician, Radioman, or Data System Technician.
- At least two years of experience on ships or submarines.
- Skills and Proficiency:
- Works with a team supporting cabling, equipment, and device installations.
- Reads and understands technical diagrams, blueprints, and cable running sheets.
- Demonstrates skill in the operation of installation hand tools and test equipment.
- Demonstrates advanced speed and accuracy in tasks such as attaching fiber optic connectors and dressing cable installations.
- Has superior skills in complex mechanical, sub-assembly, rack and chassis assembly.
- Has superior leadership abilities.
- Superior workmanship in a mission-critical environment.
- Safety and Physical Requirements:
- Occupation Safety Haz-Mat certification.
- Shipyard Competent Person certification.
- Aloft/Climbing certification.
- Working in Confined Spaces certification.
- Training and the Ability to Safely Lift and Move Objects of 50 LBS.
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certification.
- Security and Work Locations:
- Work is primarily in Jacksonville, FL, San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, but may require travel to other shipyards in the USA and to other Navy ports outside the USA.
- Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Work overtime upon management request.
- Maintain and safeguard company equipment and tools.
- Maintain and safeguard inventory.
- Organize and schedule jobs to an on-time completion.
- Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
- Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
- Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
- Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
- Possesses good vision, the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
- May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
- Tells when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
- Applies general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
- Combines pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.
- Sees details at close range.
- LISTENS to and understands information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
