We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety Officer to join our team at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive safety program that ensures a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Policies and Procedures: Create and maintain safety policies and procedures that align with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as institutional guidelines.
  • Conduct Safety Inspections and Investigations: Conduct regular safety inspections of research and clinical laboratories, identify hazards, and investigate accidents to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide Safety Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and students to ensure they understand and follow safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with laboratory managers, researchers, and other stakeholders to ensure safety protocols are integrated into daily operations.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Regulatory Requirements: Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as institutional guidelines, to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, and at least 4 years of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to occupational safety, as well as general knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
