The Medication Management Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the medication administration process, ensuring that residents receive the highest quality of care. This position involves collaboration with the Wellness Manager to supervise daily activities in the medication room and support the training of assisted living staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the medication management program and ensure compliance with established protocols.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in medication administration files.
- Assist residents with self-administration of medications as needed.
- Coordinate the ordering and receipt of medications.
- Ensure all medications are securely stored and that medication storage areas are locked at all times.
- Regularly review and verify the accuracy of residents' medication records and report discrepancies to the Wellness Manager.
- Maintain effective communication with pharmacies, families, residents, and management staff.
- Assist in updating service plans and monthly care logs as necessary.
- Support residents in scheduling medical appointments and arranging transportation.
- Participate in the training and orientation of new assisted living staff.
- Conduct regular room visits and checks to ensure resident well-being.
- Provide assistance with resident care when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three months of relevant experience or training.
- Completion of Atria's Medication Training is required.
- Successful completion of all specified training programs is necessary.
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence.
- Proficient in writing basic correspondence.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents and staff.
- Basic mathematical skills for handling measurements and calculations.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and manage standardized situations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
- Must be fully vaccinated and provide vaccination documentation upon hire.
