Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Sociology to join our Criminology Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching core introductory, specialty, and capstone courses, as well as developing additional undergraduate courses in their area of expertise. The ideal candidate will have a strong research agenda, a commitment to teaching and mentoring, and a passion for creating an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain an active research agenda
  • Teach core introductory, specialty, and capstone courses in the Criminology program
  • Develop additional undergraduate courses in their areas of expertise
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate sociology and criminology majors, supervise independent studies and internships
  • Contribute to curricular development and administration of the Criminology Program
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees
Qualifications
  • PhD in Sociology, Criminology, or allied fields; advanced ABDs will be considered
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students
  • Strong research agenda and publication record
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment
