This role requires an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) who is certified in the relevant state to work within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the bell schedule/block schedule in collaboration with the Director of Teaching and Learning and fellow educators.
  • Monitor and oversee the middle school schedule proactively.
  • Work alongside the middle school team to select and implement curriculum effectively.
  • Foster a strong sense of community within the Middle School, ensuring collaborative expectations and routines are consistently applied.
  • Guide middle school educators in adopting best teaching practices.
  • Regularly collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning.
  • Conduct meetings with the Middle School team to address teaching needs and support the Director of Teaching and Learning in educator meetings.
  • Design and implement an engaging curriculum tailored to the unique needs of middle school students with autism, focusing on academic growth, life skills, and social-emotional development.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to create and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the specific needs of each student.
  • Encourage the development of social skills and a sense of belonging among students through structured activities and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior analysts, to develop comprehensive strategies that support each student's holistic development.
Qualifications
  • Intermediate special education certification is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Special Education Certification is mandatory.
  • Proven experience working with neurodivergent students, particularly those with autism.
  • In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices and interventions.
  • Strong understanding of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and experience in their development and implementation.
