Job Description

Job Title: Special Education Substitute Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Special Education Substitute Teacher to join our team at the San Diego County Office of Education. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing educational support to students with severe disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional support to students with severe disabilities in a structured setting
  • Assist in feeding and changing diapers as needed
  • Supervise special education assistants in classroom programs
  • Monitor the daily progress of students and implement individualized education plans

Requirements:

  • Hold or be eligible for an Education Specialist Instruction Credential - mild/moderate
  • OR hold a Basic California K-12 teaching credential and a California Special Education credential - learning handicapped credential preferred
  • OR hold a Valid Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in supervising and/or teaching children who are severely handicapped
